Irish cereal samples are frequently contaminated with mycotoxin producing fungi. Therefore, having a fast, comprehensive, multiclass methods for the analysis of wide range of mycotoxins and other toxic microbial and plant metabolites is feasible to save the time and cost of several analytical analyses for grain products. more comprehensive profiling of oats and cereals is required. This is not only important from a food/feed safety point of view but also to identify new emerging toxin producing fungi that infect Irish cereals.
Task Objectives
• Establish standardised state of the art LC-MS/MS platforms on the Island of Ireland for the comprehensive analysis of current and emerging mycotoxins in Irish cereals and cereal produce.
• Provide an analytical service to Tasks 5, 6 and 7 and to Island of Ireland industry for the analysis of mycotoxins in cereal grain products.
